The idea of
finding something that appeals to the public, and then copying it
over and over, is a manufacturing, product oriented, idea of a
consumer society driven by economics. This should not be confused
with art. Once an idea has been explored and shared, it's time to
move on. Paucity is a good policy.
There is also an old idea that `less is more' in a work of art.
Complexity for the sake of complexity, rather than making the
subject as simple as necessary to communicate the idea, is not a
valued goal of picture-making. Doodles can be very complicated in
form, but meaningless. The rule of paucity holds true once again.
