We can't
help noticing that everywhere artists are painting flowers. Artists
that used to shun flowers as the subjects of tea-drinking hobbyists
are painting flowers. Serious painters and printmakers are doing
flowers. All of a sudden there are flowers everywhere.
In the past David Milne, Tom Tompson, A. Y. Jackson, and Georgia O'
Keeffe, painted flowers. They have been a subject that has endured
and transcended human suffering. Flagrantly vibrant flowers have
survived and remained unspoiled in a beleaguered world. People have
found solace in them since the beginning of time.
Flowers will always be the eternal subjects of artists.
There are deeper, underlying reasons why we are seeing works of
flowers, flowers, everywhere. It would seem that this is where we
will find a lot of artists.
